Growth on paw. Hard.

I understand your concern about your one-year-old male dog and the growth you've noticed on his paw.

It's hard to tell exactly what's causing this from the picture. Below are some possible causes:

• The growth could be a cyst or a tumor. These can develop on a dog's paw and often appear as hard lumps.
• Sometimes, foreign objects like splinters, thorns, or small rocks can become embedded in the paw pad, causing a hard lump.
• An infection, possibly from a small wound or ingrown hair, can lead to the formation of a lump.

Keep an eye on him for now. Note any changes in size, color, or appearance. If it starts to grow rapidly, change in color, or becomes painful for your dog, it's a reason for concern.

And maintain good paw hygiene. Gently clean the area with a mild antiseptic solution and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals that could irritate the skin.

Ensure your dog doesn't lick or bite the growth as this can introduce infections. Consider using a cone or bandage to prevent this.

If you have any of the following symptoms, take him to the vet or let me know:

• Rapid Growth
• Change in Color or Texture
• Bleeding
• If your dog becomes lethargic, loses appetite, or shows other unusual behaviors, it could be a result of the growth affecting his overall well-being.
