It sounds like your dog might be experiencing some discomfort in her paw and possibly her shoulder. Limping and whining when she steps on her paw could indicate a minor sprain, strain, or even a small injury that isn't immediately visible. Since she also whined when you touched her shoulder, there might be a muscle or joint issue in that area as well.

To help her at home, you can start by ensuring she gets plenty of rest. It's important to limit her physical activity, so try to avoid long walks or any activities that might strain her paw or shoulder further. Take a moment to examine her paw closely. Look at her paw pads and between her toes for any foreign objects, cuts, or swelling, as small things like thorns or splinters can cause discomfort.

If you notice any swelling, applying a cold compress to the affected area for about 10-15 minutes a few times a day can help reduce inflammation. Keep an eye on her behavior and any changes in her limping or whining. If she starts to show signs of improvement, continue with rest and gentle care.

However, if her condition doesn't improve in a few days or if it worsens, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian. They can perform a thorough examination and possibly take X-rays to rule out any underlying issues that might not be visible.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
