Hades is not neutered, we recently got a female dog and hades has been attempting to mount and hump her. I have been keeping him off of her and it seems to be affecting him. I noticed that he has been walking funny and acting a bit timid and not very energetic. he is in pain around his scrotum and base of his penis. i was wondering what is the best method to relieve him of his pain

It sounds like Hades is experiencing discomfort due to his unneutered status and the presence of a female dog. This behavior is quite common in unneutered males, especially when a female is around. The pain and discomfort around his scrotum and the base of his penis could be due to excessive excitement or even potential injury from his attempts to mount.

To help relieve his discomfort, here are a few steps you can take:

Firstly, it's important to keep Hades and the female dog separated as much as possible. This will help reduce his excitement and stress, preventing further attempts to mount and potentially injure himself.

Applying a cold compress to the affected area can also be beneficial. Wrap some ice in a cloth and gently apply it to his scrotum and the base of his penis for a few minutes at a time. This can help reduce swelling and provide some pain relief.

Creating a calm and quiet environment for Hades is another effective strategy. Reducing stimuli can help lower his stress levels and make him more comfortable.

Engaging Hades in other activities can also be helpful. Take him for walks, play with him, and provide mental stimulation through toys and games to distract him from the female dog.

It's important to monitor Hades for any additional symptoms such as excessive licking, swelling, redness, or discharge. These could indicate an infection or other medical issue that would require veterinary attention.

If Hades' discomfort persists or worsens, or if you notice any of the additional symptoms mentioned, it would be best to consult a veterinarian. They can provide a thorough examination and determine if there is an underlying issue that needs to be addressed.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
