It sounds like Grey might be experiencing a condition known as mastitis, which is an inflammation of the mammary gland. This condition can occur even in non-pregnant dogs and can lead to swelling, hardness, and sometimes discharge from the nipples. Here are a few steps you can take at home to help manage her symptoms:

Firstly, applying a warm compress to the swollen area for about 10-15 minutes a few times a day can help reduce inflammation and discomfort. It's also important to monitor for any signs of infection, such as redness, heat, or pus. If you notice any of these symptoms, seeking veterinary care is crucial, as antibiotics may be necessary.

Additionally, try to prevent Grey from licking the swollen area excessively, as this can introduce bacteria and potentially worsen the condition. Ensuring she is eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated is also important, as this supports her overall health and immune system.

While these steps can help manage the symptoms, it's essential to have Grey examined by a veterinarian. This will help rule out other potential causes, such as mammary tumors or hormonal imbalances, especially since the lactation has been ongoing for two months. A vet can provide a definitive diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan.
