I have received bandit from someone on Facebook who rescues dogs and he has been itching since I got him he has also had problems with his gums and ears I have tried medicated spray for dogs but I believe it is hurting him because he will hide after I spray him and now even if I pick up the remote he will run so I stopped using it for his gums I have gave him the teeth and gums cleaning treats and also got him a chew toy that supposed to clean them too but I am not really seeing any improvement with either of them
It sounds like Bandit is experiencing several issues, particularly with his ears and gums. The scabbed tips of his ears and the itching could suggest an ear infection or possibly ear mites. Ear infections are quite common in dogs and can lead to symptoms such as excessive scratching, head shaking, redness, swelling, and scabs.
For his ears, you might want to try gently cleaning them with a pet-safe ear cleaner. Be sure to follow the instructions on the product and avoid using cotton swabs inside the ear canal, as this can cause damage. If you notice that his ears are red, swollen, or have a foul odor, it could be a sign of a more serious issue that requires professional treatment.
Regarding his gums, while it’s excellent that you’re providing dental treats and chew toys, if there’s no improvement, it might be helpful to check for any visible redness, swelling, or bleeding. Dental issues can cause significant discomfort and may need a more thorough cleaning or treatment.
Since Bandit is hiding after you use the medicated spray, it’s possible that it’s causing him discomfort or pain. If you believe the spray is hurting him, it’s a good idea to stop using it. Instead, focus on keeping the affected areas clean and dry.
Given that these issues have persisted for a week without improvement, it’s crucial to monitor him closely. If his symptoms continue or worsen, seeking professional veterinary care would be the best course of action to ensure he receives the appropriate treatment.
