I just got this new kitten a weeks ago. As of yesterday I noticed minimal discharge coming from the eye. It remained open. When i got home from work today i noticed he wouldn’t open it. There was more minimal discharge and more discomfort. It is just the one eye and no other symptoms.
It sounds like your kitten is experiencing some discomfort in one of its eyes, which could be due to a few different reasons. Given the symptoms of redness, discharge, squinting, and holding the eye closed, it could be an eye infection, irritation, or even a minor injury.
First, use a clean, damp cloth or cotton ball soaked in warm water to gently wipe away any discharge from the eye. Make sure to use a separate cloth for each eye to avoid spreading any potential infection.
And keep an eye on the symptoms. If the discharge changes color (becomes green or yellow), or if the redness and swelling increase, it could indicate a more serious infection.
If Finley's symptoms persist or worsen, I recommend taking him to a vet to determine the exact condition and cause. Eye issues can escalate quickly, and it's important to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan to prevent any potential damage to the eye.
