Loss of appetite

What is the medication or treatment for a dog that's vomiting?

Vomiting in dogs can stem from various causes, such as dietary indiscretion, infections, toxins, or more serious conditions like gastrointestinal obstructions. Given that your dog is experiencing bloody or black vomit along with a loss of appetite, this could indicate a more serious underlying issue, such as gastrointestinal bleeding or a severe infection.

First, temporarily withhold food for 12-24 hours to allow your dog's stomach to settle. However, make sure they have access to fresh water to prevent dehydration. After this fasting period, reintroduce food gradually with a bland diet, such as boiled chicken and rice, served in small, frequent meals.

It's also important to monitor your dog's hydration. You can check for dehydration by gently lifting the skin on the back of their neck; if it doesn't snap back quickly, your dog may be dehydrated.

If you can't get him to a doctor right away, try the above. However, given his symptoms, I recommend getting him to a vet as soon as possible.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
