It sounds like Reese might be experiencing an ear infection or another ear-related issue, given her symptoms of head shaking, sensitivity to touch, and sudden jumps accompanied by whining. Ear infections in dogs can be quite uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Common signs include head shaking, scratching at the ears, redness, swelling, unusual odor, and discharge from the ear.

Here are a few steps you can take at home to help Reese:

First, gently inspect her ears for any visible signs of redness, swelling, discharge, or an unusual odor. Be cautious, as her ears are likely sensitive to touch.

If you notice any dirt or wax buildup, you can clean her ears using a dog-specific ear cleaner. Avoid using cotton swabs, as they can push debris further into the ear canal.

Keep an eye on her behavior. If she continues to shake her head, scratch her ears, or shows signs of discomfort, it might be more than just a minor irritation.

Provide a calm environment to help reduce any anxiety she might be experiencing due to the discomfort.

Given that Reese is also showing signs of distress like random jumps and whining, it's important to address this promptly. These behaviors could indicate that she is in significant discomfort or pain.

If these symptoms persist or worsen, or if you notice any of the signs mentioned earlier (redness, swelling, discharge, odor), it would be best to have her examined by a veterinarian. They can provide a thorough examination and appropriate treatment, which might include cleaning the ears more thoroughly, prescribing ear drops, or other medications to address any infection or inflammation.
