The other day she had a piece of grass stuck in her throat so I pulled it out very slowly and ever since then she has been like gagging and she won't eat she drinks very little. I don't have the money to take her to the vet and I don't know what to do. Can you please help me?
It sounds like your dog might still be experiencing some discomfort or irritation in her throat from the grass incident.
Firstly, encourage her to stay hydrated. You might find that offering ice cubes or adding a bit of low-sodium chicken broth to her water makes it more appealing for her to drink.
Secondly, try offering her soft, bland foods such as boiled chicken and rice. These can be gentler on her throat and might encourage her to eat.
It's also important to monitor her for any signs of distress, like excessive drooling, coughing, or difficulty breathing. These symptoms could indicate that there is still something in her throat or that there has been some damage.
Given that she is gagging and not eating or drinking much, there is a risk of dehydration and further complications. It's crucial to keep a close eye on her. If her condition doesn't improve within a day or two, or if she shows any signs of severe distress, it's important to find a way to get her to a veterinarian. Some clinics offer payment plans or financial assistance, so it might be worth exploring those options.
If you have any further questions or need additional advice, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.
