I came home today to see my chihuahua with a swollen face. She is moving and breathing fine -running around like her usual self- but has her head tilted on her left side while also being a little more swollen. I dont see any signs of bite marks though.
Since she is otherwise acting normally and breathing fine, it’s less likely to be an immediate emergency. However, it’s still important to keep a close eye on her.
In the meantime, you can try applying a cold compress to the swollen area to help reduce the swelling. Simply wrap some ice in a cloth and gently hold it against the swollen part for a few minutes at a time. Be careful not to apply the ice directly to her skin to avoid frostbite.
Monitor her closely for any changes in behavior or additional symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, or if the swelling continues to increase. These could indicate a more serious issue that would require immediate veterinary attention.
If the swelling doesn't start to subside or if it worsens by tomorrow, it would be best to have her checked by a veterinarian.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
