Itching

She has been scratching her stomach a lot, and it’s very red and inflamed, I don’t know if it’s an allergy thing or a heat rash. She also has some hair loss on her butt.

It sounds like your French Bulldog is experiencing significant skin issues, which can be quite uncomfortable for her. The excessive itching, redness, scabbing, and hair loss you're describing can be caused by several factors, including allergies, infections, or parasites.

Given that these symptoms have been ongoing for a week and are causing noticeable discomfort, here are a few steps you can take at home to help alleviate her symptoms:

First, consider giving her a bath with a gentle, hypoallergenic shampoo designed specifically for dogs. This can help soothe her skin and remove any potential allergens or irritants. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and dry her completely to prevent any moisture-related issues.

Next, you might want to use an e-collar (cone) to prevent her from scratching and further irritating the affected areas. This will help give her skin a chance to heal.

You can also apply a pet-safe skin soother balm or aloe vera gel to the red and inflamed areas. These topical treatments can help reduce irritation and promote healing.

Since she isn't currently on any flea and tick prevention, it might be a good idea to start her on one. Fleas and ticks can cause significant skin irritation and secondary infections.

Additionally, sometimes skin issues can be related to food allergies. Consider switching to a hypoallergenic diet or a diet specifically formulated for dogs with skin sensitivities.

While these steps can help manage her symptoms, it's important to monitor her closely. If her condition doesn't improve or worsens, it would be best to have her evaluated by a veterinarian. They can perform tests to determine the exact cause of her skin issues and recommend appropriate treatments, such as antibiotics for infections or specific medications for allergies.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
