She had her first heat cycle about 3 weeks ago. I took her to vet because she just seemed really off to me and vet said it was possibly because of first heat cycle. Fast forward to yesterday she was just no engery didn’t want to do anything or play with other dogs. Woke up this morning and she didn’t even want to finish her food and was drooling on herself which is not normal. Her gums are like a really dark color. Along with swelling and bleeding around canine teeth manly. When she drools when sleeping she will wake up with blood on her face (picture below). She is drooling and licking her lips a lot. When i first took her to the vet she had diarrhea and really bad eye boogers. Her stool are still soft but not explosive anymore. Her eye boogers are still there. Her breathe smells awful also. Vet also did an ultrasound and said her GI tract was inflamed and gave me medication for that.

I'm really sorry to hear that your dog is experiencing these troubling symptoms. The issues you're describing, such as dark gums, drooling, swelling, bleeding around the teeth, and foul-smelling breath, are quite concerning and suggest a serious dental or oral health problem. Coupled with her lethargy and poor appetite, this could indicate a significant infection or another underlying health issue.

The dark color of her gums and the bleeding might be signs of severe gum disease or an abscess. The drooling and bad breath further support this possibility. Given her previous diagnosis of an inflamed GI tract, it's possible that her overall health is being compromised by a systemic infection.

Considering the severity and progression of her symptoms, I strongly recommend taking her back to the veterinarian as soon as possible. She may require a thorough dental examination, potential extractions, and treatment for any infections. Immediate veterinary attention is crucial to prevent further complications and to alleviate her discomfort.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.

I'm delighted to hear that Aspen is feeling better today!

First, it's important to follow your vet's prescribed medications and advice first.

Golden paste, which is a mixture of turmeric, black pepper, coconut oil, and water, is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can be quite beneficial for dogs. However, it's crucial to introduce it gradually and keep an eye out for any adverse reactions.
For a dog of Aspen's size, which is about 58 pounds, you should start with a small amount and gradually increase it.

Begin with approximately 1/4 teaspoon of golden paste per day. Over the course of a week, you can slowly increase the amount to about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day, divided into two doses. Keep an eye on Aspen for any signs of gastrointestinal upset, such as diarrhea or vomiting, and adjust the dosage if necessary.

However, it's also wise to consult with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplement, especially if Aspen is currently on any medications or has underlying health conditions. The vet who examined Aspen in person would be able to give more personalized advice.
