He is showing issues with his legs. He seems to be unable to put strength on his right front and back leg. I can see he still can feel on those legs though. His right ear is warm while left ear is cold.
It sounds like your cat is experiencing some discomfort and weakness in his right front and back legs, along with a noticeable temperature difference between his ears. These symptoms could suggest a few different issues, such as a localized injury, inflammation, or even a neurological condition. The fact that he can still feel his legs is a positive sign, but his inability to put strength on them is concerning.
At home, there are a few steps you can take to help your cat:
Firstly, ensure that your cat is resting and not engaging in activities like jumping or climbing, as these could worsen any potential injury. It's best to keep him in a confined, comfortable space to limit his movement.
Next, monitor him for any signs of pain. Look for behaviors such as vocalizing, hiding, or showing aggression when you touch the affected area. If he appears to be in pain, consulting a veterinarian for pain management options would be beneficial.
Gently examine his legs for any signs of swelling, cuts, or bruises. Noticing anything unusual could provide a clue to the underlying issue.
The difference in ear temperature might indicate an infection or inflammation. Keep an eye on this, and if it persists or if he shows signs of ear discomfort, a visit to the vet would be advisable.
Lastly, ensure he is drinking water and eating normally. Sometimes, a lack of nutrition or dehydration can exacerbate weakness.
If these symptoms persist for more than a few days or worsen, I recommend visiting a veterinarian. They can perform a thorough examination and possibly some diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
He is eating well and has the normal appetite, still loves eating, but he is not drinking water. I tried to put water on his lips and using syringe to give water, but he refuses. Also, he hasn’t pooped for 2.5 days.
And here is the video of him not being able to put strength on his legs. Please advise with things that I can do at home to help him with his legs or things I should be careful of. Thank you.
I’m glad to hear that your cat is maintaining a normal appetite, but his reluctance to drink water and the fact that he hasn’t had a bowel movement for 2.5 days are definitely concerning.
To help with hydration, you might consider offering him wet food, which can naturally increase his fluid intake. Another option is to add a small amount of low-sodium chicken broth to his water to make it more enticing.
For his constipation, try adding a small amount of canned pumpkin (make sure it’s plain and not spiced) to his diet, as it can aid in bowel movements. Ensure he has access to a clean litter box and encourage him to use it by placing him near it regularly.
