My cat can not keep dry food down, but can keep water down. She has episodes where she runs and plays like a regular kitten, then she will lay around for a bit. She seems to be straining when pooping but her poop comes out like liquid seems to have some blood in it and while it's coming out it looks like it's stringy as it hangs while it comes out. I have attached picture of it after I scooped it from the box.
I'm sorry to hear about your kitten's condition. The symptoms you're describing, such as diarrhea with blood and a stringy appearance, can indeed be concerning. These could be due to several factors, including intestinal parasites, infections, or dietary issues.
It's encouraging that your kitten is still active and drinking water, but the presence of blood and her difficulty keeping dry food down are definitely worrisome. Here are a few steps you can take to help her:
Firstly, it's crucial to ensure she stays hydrated to prevent dehydration. You might consider offering her some plain, unsalted chicken broth to encourage fluid intake, in addition to water.
In terms of diet, you might try offering her a bland diet, like boiled chicken and rice, in small amounts. This could be easier for her to tolerate than dry food.
Keep a close eye on her behavior and stool. If the diarrhea persists or worsens, or if she starts showing signs of lethargy, vomiting, or more blood in her stool, it's important to seek veterinary care promptly.
Since she's young and hasn't been vaccinated or on flea prevention, it might be necessary to check for parasites.
Given the symptoms, especially the bloody diarrhea, I strongly recommend consulting a veterinarian as soon as possible. This will help rule out any serious conditions and ensure she receives the appropriate treatment.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
