He has been up and about all day till a little while ago he won't drink water or eat :( he seems weak and twitching a little here and there :(
It sounds like your German Shepherd is experiencing some concerning symptoms, such as weakness, loss of appetite, and twitching. These can be indicative of various issues, ranging from mild to more serious conditions. Let's explore a few possibilities and steps you can take to help your dog:
Firstly, consider whether your dog might be experiencing dehydration or heat exhaustion, especially if he's been active all day. Ensure he has access to fresh, cool water and encourage him to drink. Offering ice cubes can sometimes be more enticing for dogs.
Another possibility is an electrolyte imbalance, which can sometimes cause twitching. You might consider offering a small amount of an electrolyte solution specifically designed for dogs, but make sure it's safe for pets.
Muscle fatigue or strain is also a potential cause, particularly after a day of activity. Allow your dog to rest in a comfortable and quiet environment to help him recover.
It's important to monitor your dog for any additional symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in behavior. These could indicate a more serious condition that would require veterinary attention.
Additionally, gently check your dog's body for any signs of injury or pain, as these could also lead to weakness and twitching.
Given that these symptoms have appeared suddenly and your dog seems weak, it's crucial to keep a close eye on him. If he doesn't improve or if you notice any worsening symptoms, consulting a veterinarian would be a wise step to rule out any serious conditions.
