Since 4 a.m this morning he hasn’t been able to sleep. He goes to lay down but keeps letting out a cry like he is in pain. Not sure if he ate grass or something from dog park yesterday but he seems to be very uncomfortable
It sounds like your dog is experiencing some discomfort, which could be due to a variety of reasons. Given that he might have eaten something at the dog park, it's possible he could have an upset stomach or even something more serious like an obstruction.
Here are a few things you can check and do at home:
First, keep an eye out for any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or changes in his stool. These could indicate gastrointestinal distress. Additionally, gently palpate his abdomen to see if he reacts in pain. If he does, it could be a sign of something more serious like an obstruction or severe gastrointestinal upset.
Ensure he has access to fresh water at all times, as dehydration can exacerbate discomfort. You might also want to offer him a bland diet, such as boiled chicken and rice, to see if he can keep it down and if it helps settle his stomach. Creating a calm environment to help him rest is also important, as anxiety or stress can sometimes cause discomfort.
If he continues to cry out in pain, shows signs of severe distress, or if you notice any other alarming symptoms, it would be best to seek veterinary care immediately. Persistent pain and discomfort can be signs of a more serious condition that needs professional attention.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
