I understand your concern about your dog's eye. When a dog holds an eye closed, it can indicate discomfort or pain, often due to irritation, infection, or injury. Given her age, it's especially important to be cautious.

Here are a few steps you can take at home to help her:

First, gently clean around her eye with a damp, soft cloth to remove any discharge. Use lukewarm water and avoid any harsh chemicals to prevent further irritation.

If she tends to rub her eye, consider using an E-collar, also known as an Elizabethan collar, to prevent her from causing more damage.

Keep an eye out for additional symptoms such as redness, swelling, discharge, or changes in behavior. These could indicate a more serious issue that needs professional attention.

If you suspect a mild bacterial infection and are not in California, you might try an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment like Terramycin. Apply it twice a day for three days. However, if there's no improvement, it could be a sign of a more resistant infection or another underlying issue.

Given that this issue has been ongoing for two days and considering her age, it would be best to have her examined by a veterinarian. Eye problems can escalate quickly, and a professional can provide the appropriate treatment to ensure her comfort and health.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
