Lotty was outside when it was cold for a little longer than usual a few nights ago. My fiance mentioned that Lotty was whining a little while scratching by his ear about 4 or 5 days ago. So we have been monitoring him. The discharge/puss started only about 24 hrs. ago. The inside of his right ear is definitely producing liquid, and looks dirty. I do/have used cleansing wipes to clean his ears as well as on his fur and paws. They are made by Arm & Hammer odor control pet wipes kiwi blossom. I have not used the wipes in the past 2-3weeks. His feces look normal, and he is eating. I can't get him into his vet's office for 5 more days.

It sounds like Lotty might be experiencing an ear infection, which can be caused by bacteria, yeast, or even ear mites. The symptoms you've mentioned, such as itching, head shaking, whining, and discharge, are consistent with this condition. While the cold exposure might have worsened the situation, it's likely not the main cause.
While you wait for your vet appointment, there are a few steps you can take to help Lotty:
Firstly, gently clean her ear using a vet-approved ear cleaner. It's important to avoid using wipes or any products not specifically designed for ear cleaning, as they could irritate her ear further. Be careful to clean only the outer part of the ear and avoid inserting anything into the ear canal.
Next, keep an eye on the discharge. If it becomes more severe or if Lotty seems to be in more pain, it might require more urgent attention from your vet.
Additionally, try to prevent Lotty from scratching her ear too much, as this can lead to further irritation or injury. If her scratching is severe, you might consider using an Elizabethan collar to help protect her ear.
Since you've mentioned the presence of fleas, make sure Lotty's flea treatment is up to date, as fleas can sometimes contribute to ear problems.
If Lotty's condition worsens or if you notice any new symptoms, such as lethargy or loss of appetite, it would be best to seek veterinary care sooner if possible.
