I'm sorry to hear about Reba's condition. Based on the symptoms you've described, there are several possibilities to consider, and it's important to address them promptly.
Firstly, Reba might be experiencing issues with her anal glands. Dogs have two small glands on either side of their anus that can sometimes become blocked or infected, leading to discomfort, swelling, and occasionally blood in the stool.
Another possibility is a gastrointestinal issue. The combination of soft stool followed by a liquid, bloody discharge could indicate a problem such as colitis or an infection. Even though she is eating well and has energy, these symptoms can still be quite serious.
It's also worth considering parasites. Despite being dewormed, some parasites can still cause issues. A fecal exam by your vet can help rule this out.
While less likely given her age and vaccination status, parvovirus is another potential cause. Parvo can lead to bloody diarrhea, but dogs with this virus are usually very ill, lethargic, and often refuse to eat.
Given the presence of blood and the swollen belly, it's crucial to have Reba seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. These symptoms can indicate a serious condition that requires prompt treatment.
In the meantime, keep her hydrated and monitor her closely for any changes in behavior or additional symptoms. Avoid giving her any new foods or treats until she has been evaluated.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
