The redness and itching on your dog's underbelly could indeed be due to ringworm, which is a common fungal infection. However, other possibilities include bacterial infections, allergies, or parasitic infestations. Given the symptoms and the appearance of the skin in the photos, here are some steps you can take:

First, it's important to consider isolation and hygiene. Since ringworm is contagious to both humans and other animals, minimizing contact is crucial. Make sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling your dog and clean any surfaces your dog has been in contact with.

Next, you can use topical treatments. Over-the-counter antifungal creams or shampoos containing ingredients like miconazole or chlorhexidine can be effective. Bathe your dog with these shampoos as directed, usually twice a week, and leave the shampoo on for about 10 minutes before rinsing.

To prevent further irritation, consider using an Elizabethan collar (cone) to stop your dog from scratching the affected areas.

Additionally, it's important to clean your dog's environment. This includes washing their bedding, toys, and any other items they frequently use to prevent re-infection.

Given that the condition has been ongoing for a few days and involves significant redness and itching, it would be best to have a veterinarian confirm the diagnosis. They may prescribe oral antifungal medication if necessary, especially if the condition does not improve with topical treatments.
