Behavior
Aggression

She is a leopard gecko and she has been biting every time she puts her hand in, we think it was her trying to prove dominance so we picked her up and how and she was calm resting on arms and clothes, however when we pick her up and pet her she gets scared/mad and bites, we are very concerned and upset, please help.

It sounds like your leopard gecko is experiencing some stress, which can sometimes lead to biting behavior. Let's discuss a few steps you can take to help her feel more comfortable and reduce her stress:

First, moving can be quite a significant stressor for any pet, including geckos. Make sure her new environment is set up properly with the right temperature, humidity, and plenty of hiding spots. When it comes to handling her, be gentle and limit it initially to give her time to acclimate to her new surroundings.

Allow her to gradually get used to your presence without handling her too much at first. You can start by simply placing your hand in the enclosure without attempting to pick her up, allowing her to approach you on her own terms.

When she does not bite, reward her with a treat. This positive reinforcement can help her associate handling with positive experiences.

When you do handle her, ensure you are supporting her body properly and avoid sudden movements. Keep handling sessions short initially and gradually increase the duration as she becomes more comfortable.

It's also important to monitor her behavior closely. If she continues to show signs of stress or aggression, it might be worth reviewing her habitat setup or considering any other changes that might be affecting her.

If her behavior does not improve or if you notice any other signs of illness, it would be best to consult with a veterinarian who specializes in reptiles. They can provide more specific advice and check for any underlying health issues.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
