Ear

We have a 2 year old who now requires A LOT more of our attention & time regularly and Roscoe has ALWAYS been use to being the center of attention in our house. So, I don’t know if that is why he’s suddenly wanted to isolate and stay outside or if he’s sick or if he is depressed I don’t know

It sounds like Roscoe might be experiencing some anxiety or stress due to the recent changes in your household, particularly with the increased attention required by your 2-year-old. Dogs can sometimes feel left out or stressed when their routine and attention levels change significantly. Here are a few things you can try to help Roscoe adjust:

Next, try to keep Roscoe's routine as consistent as possible. Regular feeding times, walks, and playtime can help him feel more secure amidst the changes. Maintaining a predictable schedule can be very comforting for dogs.

Additionally, spend some one-on-one time with Roscoe each day. Even short periods of focused attention can help him feel valued and less anxious. Quality time is crucial for reinforcing your bond and reassuring him.

Providing Roscoe with interactive toys or puzzle feeders can also be beneficial. These can keep him mentally stimulated and distracted, which can alleviate some of his stress.

Regarding the ear issues, it’s important to monitor for signs of infection such as redness, swelling, discharge, or a foul odor. If you notice any of these symptoms, or if Roscoe continues to scratch his ears and seems uncomfortable, it would be best to have a veterinarian examine him to rule out infections or other ear problems.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
