Behavior

This isn't the worst video as she's relatively calm
I'll try to take a better one
She generally also hisses while attacking her tail

Your cat's behavior of attacking her tail, especially if accompanied by hissing, suggests that she may be experiencing discomfort, irritation, or a behavioral issue.

Fleas, mites, or other parasites can cause irritation, leading to tail chasing. Even with regular flea and tick preventatives, breakthrough infestations can occur. Allergic reactions to food or environmental factors can cause skin irritation, leading to similar behaviors. Conditions such as impacted anal glands, injuries, or arthritis can cause discomfort, prompting your cat to attack her tail.

Evaluate her diet for potential allergens and consider a hypoallergenic diet trial if you suspect food allergies.

If the behavior persists or worsens, or if you notice any of the following, it would warrant an immediate veterinary visit:

- Open wounds or bald patches on her tail from excessive biting or licking.
- Signs of pain such as difficulty sitting or reluctance to be touched near the tail.
- Any neurological signs, including disorientation, uncoordinated movements, or seizures.
- Changes in appetite, weight loss, or lethargy.

If her symptoms persist or worsen, consider taking her to the hospital.
