Rocco gets seizures on an irregular basis. Sometimes after a few months, sometimes after a few weeks or days. The seizures usually last about 1 to 2 minutes. The longest was probably around 5 minutes. I noitced it usually happens while sleeping or before sleeping. I have stopped giving him dog food/kibble and dog treats (although I gave him some a few days ago, not sure if that might be a contributing factor) I'm not sure if changes in his diet helps but I usually feed him chicken, beef or pork.

I'm sorry to hear that Rocco is experiencing seizures. Seizures in dogs can stem from various factors, including genetic predispositions, underlying health conditions, or even dietary influences. Given that Rocco's seizures are irregular and can last up to five minutes, it's essential to monitor his condition closely.

To help manage Rocco's seizures at home, here are some steps you can take:

Firstly, keeping a seizure diary can be incredibly helpful. Document the frequency, duration, and any potential triggers of Rocco's seizures. Note any changes in his diet, environment, or stress levels that might correlate with the seizures.

Secondly, ensure that Rocco is in a safe space during a seizure to prevent injury. Remove any objects that could cause harm and try to keep him calm.

Regarding his diet, while you mentioned switching from kibble to fresh meats like chicken, beef, or pork, it's crucial to maintain a consistent diet. Sudden changes in diet can sometimes trigger seizures. If you suspect a particular food might be a trigger, try eliminating it and observe any changes.

If Rocco isn't already on anti-seizure medication, this might be something to discuss with your veterinarian. Medications such as phenobarbital or potassium bromide can help manage seizures in dogs.

During a seizure, it's important to stay calm. Avoid touching Rocco's mouth or head, as he might inadvertently bite. Instead, gently comfort him and speak softly.

Given the severity and frequency of Rocco's seizures, it's crucial to consult with a veterinarian as soon as possible. They can perform diagnostic tests to determine the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment. Seizures lasting more than five minutes or occurring in clusters are considered emergencies and require immediate veterinary attention.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.
