Hello, I just woke up to a shock because as I was sleeping my 8 year old cat Oreo was peeing on me while I slept. I woke up as I felt a hot stream hitting my stomach an now I don't know what to do. He has peed and pooped multiple times on my bed before only for me to discover it when I come back from school. Another thing is he only does this on my bed not on any of my other families beds. I also have 4 other cats but I don't think that's the problem because this just started happening since January of this month and I've had my other cats well over a year. What should I do? (I'm under resources at the moment at the moment to and have no money to take him to the vet.?

It sounds like Oreo is having some challenges that could be either behavioral or medical in nature, leading him to urinate and defecate on your bed. Let's explore a few possibilities and steps you can take to address this situation.
Firstly, it's important to consider any potential medical issues. Inappropriate urination can sometimes indicate a urinary tract infection or other medical conditions. I understand that financial constraints can be a concern, but it's crucial to watch for signs of discomfort in Oreo, such as frequent attempts to urinate, straining, or blood in his urine. If you observe any of these symptoms, consulting a vet is important, as untreated urinary issues can lead to more serious health problems.
On the other hand, behavioral issues might also be at play. Stress or changes in the environment can cause inappropriate elimination. Given that you have other cats, Oreo might be marking territory or feeling stressed. Ensure that each cat has its own litter box, plus one extra, and keep them clean. Try to identify any recent changes in your household that could be affecting him, such as new pets, changes in routine, or even new furniture.
Additionally, consider Oreo's litter box preferences. Cats can be quite particular about their litter boxes. Make sure the litter box is clean, located in a quiet area, and filled with a type of litter that Oreo prefers. Sometimes, experimenting with different types of litter can make a difference.
To prevent Oreo from using your bed as a litter box, you might try some deterrents. Covering the bed with a plastic sheet or using a pet-safe deterrent spray could discourage him from going there.
Lastly, positive reinforcement can be very effective. Encourage Oreo to use the litter box by rewarding him with treats or affection when he uses it appropriately.
Since this behavior has been ongoing for a few months, it's important to keep a close eye on Oreo. If you notice any changes in his behavior or health, seeking veterinary advice might be necessary. Consider looking for low-cost clinics or assistance programs if needed.
