She was badly burned on her right leg when she was a puppy and she also ate 30 chicken wing bones when she was like 3 yrs old and the vet said she wouldn’t live through the night but she has been here for like 10 more years after that

It sounds like your Shih Tzu has been through quite a lot and is indeed a real fighter! Given her current symptoms and history, there are a few important considerations to keep in mind.

The eye issues you're describing—swelling, redness, rubbing, and discharge—are concerning and could indicate several potential problems. These could range from conjunctivitis, a foreign body in the eye, a corneal ulcer, to even glaucoma. Since these symptoms have persisted for four months, it's crucial to address them promptly to prevent any further complications or potential vision loss.

Additionally, her ear issues could be related. Sometimes, ear infections can cause discomfort that leads to rubbing the face and eyes, or there could be an underlying systemic issue affecting both the eyes and ears.

Given her age and the complexity of her symptoms, I strongly recommend taking her to a veterinarian as soon as possible. The vet can perform a thorough examination, possibly including eye tests and ear swabs, to determine the exact cause and provide appropriate treatment. This could include medications like antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, or other specific treatments depending on the diagnosis.

Her history of severe burns and ingesting chicken bones shows she's resilient, but these past traumas might also contribute to her current health status, making it even more important to get her checked out.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
