we rescued two eastern cottontail kits on around January 18th, just on Sunday one of them passed away and we don't know what from. our dog got to them and bit both of them we presume. when we first rescued them, their eyes were closed. that Monday they opened their eyes. now today, the rabbit was perfectly fine this morning and at around 12 pm. though when I got home from school 4 hours later the rabbit was on its side still breathing and eyes open. it's still like that, it just started eating a bit ago. and currently when it tries to walk/hop around or sit up on it's own it physically cannot. its on it's side constantly. I help it sit up straight and walk as much as I possibly can. please I'm so worried.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the situation with your rescued rabbit. It sounds like the remaining kit is in a very delicate condition, especially given the recent trauma from the dog bite and the symptoms you're describing. The inability to sit up or move properly, combined with being on its side, could indicate severe injury or neurological issues, possibly stemming from the bite.

Given the seriousness of these symptoms, it's crucial to seek immediate veterinary care. The rabbit may be suffering from internal injuries, shock, or other complications that require professional attention. In the meantime, try to keep the rabbit warm and in a quiet, stress-free environment. Avoid handling it too much to prevent further stress or injury.

Please take the rabbit to a veterinarian as soon as possible to ensure it receives the necessary care. If you have any further questions, please ask us. Thank you.
