Last night he was yipping in pain when he would move a certain way. He’s acting very slow and does not want to move much. He does walk normal and is alert he also shakes when he doesn’t want to move as he is in pain
It sounds like your French Bulldog is experiencing some discomfort and pain, which could be due to various reasons such as a muscle strain, joint issue, or even something more internal. Given that he yips in pain when moving a certain way and is shaking, it's important to make him as comfortable as possible at home.
First, try to limit his movement to prevent further strain or injury. Create a quiet, comfortable space for him to rest, using a soft bed or blanket to cushion him. Avoid handling him too much, especially in ways that might cause him pain.
You can also try gently feeling around his body to see if you can identify any specific area that seems to be causing him pain. Check his joints and limbs for any swelling, heat, or obvious injuries. If you find a specific area that seems to be the source of pain, applying a cold compress can help reduce inflammation for the first 24-48 hours. After that, you can switch to a warm compress to help soothe the muscles.
It's crucial to avoid giving him any over-the-counter human pain medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, as these can be toxic to dogs. There are specific pain medications for dogs, but these should only be given under the guidance of a veterinarian.
Since he is showing signs of significant discomfort and shaking, it would be best to have him seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. They can provide a proper diagnosis and appropriate pain relief. If his condition worsens or if he shows other symptoms like vomiting, lethargy, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate veterinary care.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
