It sounds like your kitten is experiencing significant discomfort with her eye, especially since she scratched it until it popped. This could be due to an infection, inflammation, or even a foreign body that caused irritation. Given that she is also coughing, sneezing, and itching, it’s possible she might have an upper respiratory infection, which is common in stray kittens.

For now, you can gently clean the area around her eye with a saline solution to remove any discharge and keep it clean. You can make a saline solution at home by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt in a cup of boiled, cooled water. Use a clean, soft cloth or cotton ball to gently wipe away any debris.

To prevent further scratching, consider using an Elizabethan collar (cone) to keep her from pawing at her eye. This will help prevent additional damage and allow the area to heal.

However, given the severity of the symptoms and the fact that the swelling has been ongoing for several days, it’s crucial to have her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Eye issues can escalate quickly and may require specific treatments such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications that only a vet can provide. Additionally, the coughing and sneezing could indicate a more systemic issue that needs addressing.
