HELP!! My cat swallowed a streamer.

My 5 mth old kitten Angel just swallowed a foil streamer from a cheerleading pom pom. She is a calico short hair. She weighs about 3 lbs. She is a happy hyper kitten. She seems fine running around like nothing is wrong. She hasn't vomited or gagged. I looked in her mouth, but it's not caught on her tongue or teeth. It's just gone. I don't know what to do to help her.

When a kitten swallows a foreign object like a foil streamer, it can be a cause for concern. The main risks associated with ingesting such material include obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract, irritation, or even perforation, which can lead to serious complications.

Since your kitten, Angel, is currently active and not showing signs of distress, such as vomiting, gagging, or lethargy, this is a positive sign. However, it's important to monitor her closely for any changes in behavior or health.

Please keep a close eye on Angel for the next 24-48 hours. Watch for any signs of discomfort, such as pawing at the mouth, drooling, retching, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or changes in bowel movements.

Ensure she has constant access to fresh water to stay hydrated, as this can help with the passage of the foreign material.

Do not try to induce vomiting at home, as this can cause more harm, especially if the object becomes lodged in the esophagus.

If you notice any of the following symptoms, it's crucial to take Angel to a veterinarian immediately:

- Persistent vomiting
- Abdominal pain or swelling
- Lethargy or a significant decrease in activity level
- Inability to defecate or straining to defecate
- Coughing or difficulty breathing
