To help reduce swelling, you can apply a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the swollen area for about 10-15 minutes several times a day.

It's important to monitor the bite mark for signs of infection, such as increased redness, warmth, pus, or a foul odor. If you notice any of these signs, it may indicate an infection that requires veterinary attention.

Encourage your dog to rest and limit his activity to prevent further strain on the injured leg. You might need to keep him in a confined area to ensure he doesn't overexert himself. If your dog seems to be in pain, you can consult with a veterinarian about appropriate pain relief options. Do not give human medications to your dog without veterinary guidance.

Since the swelling and reluctance to bear weight could indicate a more serious injury, such as a sprain or fracture, it's important to monitor his condition closely.
