Kennel cough, also known as infectious tracheobronchitis, is a common respiratory infection in dogs, particularly in young puppies like Lou Lou. It typically presents as a dry, hacking cough that can sound quite similar to a honking noise.

First, it's essential to ensure that Lou Lou gets plenty of rest and avoids any strenuous activities. Additionally, keeping her isolated from other dogs will help prevent the spread of the infection.

Using a humidifier in the room where Lou Lou spends most of her time can be very beneficial. The humidified air can soothe her throat and reduce coughing. Alternatively, you can create a steam-filled environment by taking her into the bathroom while you run a hot shower.

Hydration is also crucial. Make sure Lou Lou always has access to fresh water.

It's also important to keep Lou Lou away from smoke, dust, and other irritants that could worsen her cough.

While kennel cough often resolves on its own within a couple of weeks, seeking veterinary care is important if Lou Lou's symptoms persist or worsen, to rule out any complications or secondary infections.
