He screamed while outside and is in pain. We can’t figure why and he wouldn’t let our vet touch him. The vet prescribed him Carprofen 100mg 2x a day. He already takes 600mg of Gabapentin and 200 mg of trazodone every 8 hours. He is obviously high but keeps whimpering in pain

Your dog's symptoms of pain and distress, despite being on a combination of Carprofen, Gabapentin, and Trazodone, suggest that the underlying issue causing the pain has not been fully addressed or may be more severe than initially thought. The scream heard while outside could indicate a sudden injury or exacerbation of a pre-existing condition.

Since he is already on medication for pain and anxiety, you should not administer any additional over-the-counter medications or supplements without consulting your veterinarian, as this could lead to drug interactions or overdosing.

Offer food and water in easily accessible locations, so he doesn't have to move much to eat or drink. And limit his physical activity to prevent further injury. If he needs to go outside for bathroom breaks, use a leash to control his movements gently.

Watch for additional symptoms that may indicate an emergency, such as:

- Sudden collapse or inability to stand.
- Severe lethargy or unresponsiveness.
- Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing.
- Profuse bleeding or signs of shock.

Remember, the medications your dog is currently taking can cause sedation, but if he continues to whimper in pain, it's a sign that the pain is not fully controlled.

And please understand that the advice and diagnosis of a veterinarian who has seen Bayley in person will be the most accurate. I recommend that you continue to follow your veterinarian's advice. If Baylee continues to struggle, it's best to contact your veterinarian to share his situation with them and get their advice.
