She is pregnant I have felt babies move but she is not mine I'm just curious on what I need to do next because I am going to Foster her on my own because there is no place here in Oklahoma that has room for her at all
It's wonderful that you're stepping in to help this pregnant cat. Here are some steps you can take to ensure she has a safe and comfortable environment for her and her kittens:
First, it's important to create a safe space for her. Set up a quiet, comfortable area where she can give birth and care for her kittens. A large box lined with soft blankets or towels can work well. Make sure this space is in a low-traffic area of your home to minimize stress.
Next, focus on her nutrition. Pregnant cats need extra nutrition, so feeding her a high-quality kitten food can provide the necessary nutrients for her and her developing kittens. Ensure she has constant access to fresh water as well.
Monitoring her health is also crucial. Keep an eye on her for any signs of distress or illness. If she stops eating, becomes lethargic, or shows any signs of discomfort, it might be a good idea to seek veterinary advice.
As the birth approaches, it's good to be prepared. While cats usually handle birthing on their own, having some clean towels, a heating pad set on low, and a small box or basket ready for the kittens can be helpful if needed.
After the kittens are born, ensure they are nursing and staying warm. The mother will usually take care of them, but you should monitor to make sure all is well.
Finally, once the kittens are born, it’s a good idea to have both the mother and kittens checked by a vet to ensure they are healthy.
