Q. She's urinating outside of the box

Last night she was laying on the back of the couch on a blanket and I felt she had gone on the blanket. She's been going on a mat outside her box but we tossed it out now she's going on the carpet
Is she just acting out or is she sick. She has always been a nervous cat and freaks out going outside of her home. I have a hard time taking her to a vet. It causes more emotional damage than good.

Thank you for connecting with us. Have you tried increasing the number of litterboxes within the household? Also, were there any abrupt changes within the household that may act as stress to her? If her urinating at unusual places persists, an appointment with a vet for a differential diagnosis is required. This is because FLUTD can be suspected. FLUTD(Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease) is a broad term generally used to describe a variety of bladder and urethra medical conditions. An increase in frequency or amount of urine, blood in urine, vocalizing while urinating, urinating in unusual places, and straining to urinate are all typical symptoms found in FLUTD. In the clinic, bloodwork and urinalysis will be carried out to first look out for any abnormalities in her condition.
Please make an appointment with a vet.
