I'm sorry to hear about your cat's injury. It sounds like the wound may have become infected, which is likely causing the swelling and pus you're observing. Here are some steps you can take at home to help manage the situation:

Firstly, gently clean the wound using warm water and mild soap. Alternatively, a saline solution can be effective for cleaning. It's important to avoid using hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, as these can irritate the tissue.

Next, you can apply a warm compress to the swollen area. Simply soak a clean cloth in warm water and hold it against the area for a few minutes. This can help reduce swelling and encourage drainage.

After cleaning, ensure the area is thoroughly dried, as a moist environment can promote bacterial growth.

It's crucial to monitor the wound closely. If you notice the swelling increasing, the pus becoming more pronounced, or if your cat shows signs of pain or fever, it may be necessary to seek veterinary care.

Additionally, try to prevent further injury by keeping her separated from her brother to avoid any more attacks or injuries.

I understand financial concerns can be challenging, but if the infection worsens, it could lead to more serious health issues requiring more intensive treatment. Some clinics offer payment plans or low-cost services, so it might be worthwhile to inquire about those options.

If you have any further questions or need more assistance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
