It sounds like you're doing a great job keeping an eye on Lucy's health. Given her age and the description of the growth, it might be a benign condition like a histiocytoma, which is quite common in young dogs and often resolves on its own. However, it could also be something as simple as a minor irritation or an insect bite, especially since she's been chewing near it.

To ensure Lucy stays comfortable and healthy, here are a few steps you can take:

Firstly, it's important to monitor the growth closely. Keep an eye on any changes in size, color, or texture. If you notice it changing rapidly, becoming painful, or starting to bleed, it would be wise to consult your veterinarian.

Additionally, try to prevent Lucy from chewing the area to avoid further irritation or infection. If she continues to chew, you might consider using an Elizabethan collar to deter her.

You can also gently clean the area with a mild antiseptic solution to help prevent any potential infection.

Lastly, observe Lucy for any other symptoms, such as limping or excessive licking, which might indicate discomfort or irritation.

If the growth persists or you notice any concerning changes, it's best to have a vet examine it to rule out any serious conditions. If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for taking such good care of Lucy!
