We have had her for a week and since then we have had to take her to the vet for calcium deficiency and now we are noticing that she keeps buldging her eye out

Chameleons have a fascinating way of cleaning their eyes by bulging them out, which is typically normal behavior. However, if you notice this accompanied by lethargy or other changes in behavior, it could suggest an underlying issue. Given your chameleon's history of calcium deficiency, it's crucial to ensure she receives adequate calcium and UVB lighting, as deficiencies can impact her overall health, including her eye health.
Here are some steps you can take at home to support her well-being:
Firstly, ensure she has proper lighting. Access to a UVB light is essential for calcium absorption and overall health, and it should be on for about 10-12 hours each day.
Next, make sure she stays well-hydrated. You can achieve this by regularly misting her enclosure or using a dripper system to encourage her to drink.
In terms of diet, provide a balanced diet supplemented with calcium. Dusting her food with calcium powder can help prevent deficiencies.
It's also important to monitor her behavior and any changes in her eye condition. If the eye bulging persists or worsens, or if she becomes more lethargic, it could indicate an infection or another health issue.
Since the eye bulging is ongoing and she appears lethargic, I recommend keeping a close watch on her. If her condition doesn't improve or if you notice any additional symptoms, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian who specializes in reptiles for a thorough examination.
If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
