I sprayed a eucalyptus spray in the shower not knowing this was toxic to cats. I sprayed 4 sprays. He was not in the room and has not been in the room at all, but I did open the door to leave the room. He was not near the door when I left the room. I have terrible anxiety about him and because I love him so much. He seems totally fine. No vomiting, he’s been sleeping but this is fairly typical. I’m just terrified that I accidentally hurt him and I want to see if he should be okay or if I need to go to the emergency vet

It's completely understandable to be concerned about your cat's well-being, especially when it comes to potential toxins like eucalyptus. Fortunately, it sounds like your cat was not directly exposed to the spray, which is a good sign. Since he wasn't in the room when you sprayed and hasn't shown any symptoms such as vomiting, drooling, or difficulty breathing, it’s likely that he wasn’t exposed to a harmful level of the spray.

To ensure his continued safety, here are a few steps you can take:

First, make sure the room where you sprayed the eucalyptus is well-ventilated. Open windows and doors to allow fresh air to circulate and disperse any lingering fumes.

Next, keep an eye on your cat for any signs of distress or unusual behavior. Symptoms of eucalyptus toxicity can include drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, or difficulty breathing.

Lastly, ensure your cat does not have access to the room where you sprayed the eucalyptus for at least a few hours until the fumes have completely dissipated.

Given that your cat seems fine and hasn't shown any symptoms, it’s likely that he wasn’t exposed to a harmful level of the spray. However, if you notice any changes in his behavior or health, it would be wise to contact a veterinarian immediately.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
