I think he has an upper respiratory infection. His eye is leaking clear, white, and thick greenish gunk? He has been sneezing, coughing, won't eat or drink, and is very lethargic. We literally pick him up in the air and spin him around and still can't get him to wake up and open his eyes but maybe for a few seconds sometimes. We thought he was just anxious about us moving to a new place with new people and not having his old cat friends until yesterday when his eye started leaking and he stopped eating/drinking. He is also very warm and his nose is dry. He also has been trying to eat his poop and litter a lot more than he had before, but he has always tried doing that since we got him at a couple weeks old. He also used the bathroom only once or twice the last 2 days rather than his normal 5 or 6 times during the day at least
It sounds like your Maine Coon kitten is experiencing several concerning symptoms that could indicate a serious health issue, possibly an upper respiratory infection or another underlying condition. The combination of lethargy, lack of appetite, eye discharge, sneezing, coughing, and changes in bathroom habits are all signs that require immediate attention.
The eye discharge, especially if it's thick and greenish, suggests a possible infection that could be bacterial or viral. The lethargy and refusal to eat or drink are particularly worrisome, as they can lead to dehydration and further complications. The fact that he is very warm and has a dry nose might indicate a fever, which is another sign of infection.
Given the severity and combination of these symptoms, I strongly recommend that you seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Your kitten may need specific treatments such as antibiotics, fluids, or other supportive care that only a veterinarian can provide. The behavior of eating poop and litter could also be related to nutritional deficiencies or other health issues that need to be addressed.
Please take your kitten to a veterinarian immediately to ensure he receives the care he needs. If you have any further questions, please ask us. Thank you.
