Marshmallow is pregnant and I don’t know how far along she is since she hasn’t seen a vet. She had some very light pink tinted mucus come from her Vulva a week ago and today is bleeding lightly. She is vocal but not panting or seeming lethargic or uncomfortable. She is quite restless and follows me anytime I get up and move. She’s drinking a lot of water. Idk if this is normal, if it means she is in labor. I cannot afford a vet.
It sounds like Marshmallow might be entering the early stages of labor, especially given the light pink mucus and her restlessness. The light bleeding you're observing could be a normal part of the birthing process, but it's important to monitor her closely.
First, create a comfortable space for her to give birth. Set up a quiet, cozy area with a box lined with clean towels or blankets in a calm, warm place.
Next, keep an eye on her behavior for signs of active labor. Look for more intense contractions, increased vocalization, or visible straining.
If possible, gently check her temperature. A drop in body temperature can indicate that labor is imminent.
However, if the bleeding becomes heavy or continues for an extended period without any kittens being born, this could indicate a problem.
Given that she is bleeding lightly and restless, it's crucial to keep a close eye on her. If you notice any of the red flags mentioned above, it would be best to seek veterinary assistance as soon as possible. You might consider finding a low-cost clinic or reaching out to local animal welfare organizations for help.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
