My cat received a depo medrol injection last wednesday. He has been on and off to the ER and having an array of symptoms that they concluded was likely feline herpes virus. He is now taking famciclivor and clavamox. They also prescribed onsior to help with his fever however when i look up this medication it says it can not be used in conjunction with a corticosteroid. Does this mean together at the same time or will the depo medrol injection my cat had last week still interact with onsior if i give it to him?

Depo-Medrol is a corticosteroid, while Onsior is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It's generally recommended to avoid using corticosteroids and NSAIDs together due to the increased risk of gastrointestinal ulcers and other side effects. The primary concern is with concurrent use, but it's important to note that the effects of a corticosteroid injection like Depo-Medrol can last for several weeks.

Since your cat received the Depo-Medrol injection last week, there may still be some residual effects in their system. It's crucial to follow the advice of your veterinarian who prescribed these medications, as they would have considered the timing and potential interactions.

If you have concerns about administering Onsior, I recommend contacting your veterinarian to discuss the timing and any potential risks. They might adjust the treatment plan based on your cat's current condition and medical history.

In the meantime, please monitor your cat for any signs of gastrointestinal distress, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite, and report these symptoms to your vet immediately.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
