tipsy just got declawed yesterday and the vet said that she did not need an e collar, but she has been licking her paws and trying to chew the glue off and i am wondering if that is bad

It's completely understandable to be concerned about Tipsy's behavior following her declawing procedure. Licking and chewing at her paws can interfere with healing and potentially introduce bacteria, leading to infection. While some licking is normal as she adjusts, excessive licking or chewing can be problematic.
To help Tipsy through this, here are a few steps you can take:
Firstly, keep a close eye on how often and how intensely she is licking or chewing. If it seems excessive, it might be necessary to consider additional measures.
Engaging her with toys or activities can be a great way to divert her attention from her paws. Interactive toys or puzzle feeders are particularly effective in keeping her occupied.
It's also important to ensure her environment is calm and stress-free, as stress can sometimes increase licking behavior.
If she continues to lick excessively, you might consider using soft paw covers or socks to protect the area temporarily. Just make sure they are not too tight and are removed regularly to allow her paws to breathe.
Additionally, keep an eye out for any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge from her paws. If you notice any of these signs, it would be wise to contact your veterinarian for advice.
If her behavior doesn't improve or if you notice any signs of infection, consulting your veterinarian for further guidance would be best. They might suggest an e-collar or other interventions to prevent her from disturbing the healing process.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. Thank you.
