We have a lemon tree in the backyard and it looked like someone got into the lemon, but my dog always has stayed away from them. It was probably another animal or just something that fell and rotted. Do you think I need to worry about her eating in a lemon in this is causing issues issues or does that not usually cause issues again I don’t think it was her, but just to be safe.

It's reassuring to know that lemons and other citrus fruits are generally not toxic to dogs. However, if ingested in large quantities, they can cause mild gastrointestinal upset. Fortunately, the sour taste of lemons usually deters dogs from consuming them in significant amounts. If your dog did happen to nibble on a lemon, you might notice some mild symptoms such as drooling, vomiting, or diarrhea. These symptoms are typically self-limiting and should resolve on their own.
Since you mentioned that your dog has stayed away from the lemons, it’s likely not a concern. However, it’s always a good idea to monitor her for any unusual behavior or symptoms over the next day or so. If she shows signs of discomfort, such as persistent vomiting or diarrhea, or if she seems lethargic, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian.
In the meantime, you might want to ensure that any fallen lemons are picked up to prevent any accidental ingestion in the future. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
