Since yesterday he has been less active and whines when we touch his front legs. We went to the vet today and they told us that it could be Covid if it doesn’t get better by 1 week. Another thing they said that my cat has a fever and that’s why his legs hurt, they are no injuries. I wanted to know if this is true

It's completely understandable to be worried about your kitten's health, especially when they're showing signs of discomfort and fever. Cats can indeed exhibit symptoms like fever and lethargy due to various infections, including viral ones. Although COVID-19 is not commonly diagnosed in cats, it is possible for them to contract it. However, it's relatively rare and usually presents with mild symptoms.

The fever your kitten is experiencing could be causing the discomfort in their legs, as fever can lead to general body aches and increased sensitivity. Since your veterinarian has already examined your kitten and suggested monitoring them for a week, it's important to follow their guidance. During this time, ensure your kitten stays well-hydrated and comfortable. You can encourage them to drink more by offering fresh water or wet food, which also aids in hydration.

Keep a close watch on any changes in behavior or symptoms, such as increased lethargy, difficulty breathing, or a lack of appetite. If you notice any of these, please contact your veterinarian promptly. It's reassuring to know that there are no injuries, which helps rule out trauma as a cause of the leg pain.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Thank you.
