He starts to shake out of no where. It’s a 3-4 second mild shiver. Sometimes, after the mild shiver, he would start to fall over but I try and catch him. I pet him and try comforting him, but he acts as if nothing happened.

It sounds like your dog is experiencing some concerning episodes, especially considering his age. The shaking and falling over could be due to various factors, such as neurological issues, vestibular disease, or even a temporary loss of balance. Although these episodes are brief and he recovers quickly, it's important to keep a close eye on him.
At home, there are a few steps you can take:
Firstly, it would be helpful to keep a log of each episode. Note the time, duration, and any potential triggers or patterns you observe. This information can be invaluable if you decide to consult a veterinarian.
Secondly, ensure his environment is safe to prevent injury during these episodes. Keep floors clear of obstacles and provide soft bedding for him to rest on.
Additionally, monitor for any other symptoms, such as changes in appetite, behavior, or coordination. These could offer more clues about what might be happening.
Lastly, make sure he is well-hydrated and eating a balanced diet, as dehydration or nutritional deficiencies can sometimes contribute to such symptoms.
Given that these episodes have been occurring for about 20 days and are happening multiple times a day, it would be wise to consult with a veterinarian. They can conduct a thorough examination and possibly run some tests to determine the underlying cause. Early intervention can be crucial, especially with older dogs.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
