My cat had an anal gland rupture last Friday and she went to the vet the next day. After the gland was flushed and she received an antibiotic shot along with a 3 day prescription of Onsior. Her gland has started to scab and it seems some of her hair is in it. She recently pooped And her scab came off but the hair is holding it over the gland. Should I leave it there or do something?

It sounds like your cat is in the recovery phase after experiencing an anal gland rupture, which can understandably be quite uncomfortable for her. The presence of scabbing is a normal part of the healing process, but it's crucial to keep the area clean to prevent any infection.
Now that the scab has come off and hair is holding it over the gland, you should gently clean the area to minimize the risk of infection. You can do this by using a warm, damp cloth to softly wipe the area, taking care not to apply too much pressure or cause any discomfort. If you find that the hair is stuck to the scab, try to gently separate it without pulling on the skin.
It's also important to keep an eye on the area for any signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge. If you observe any of these symptoms or if your cat appears to be in pain or discomfort, it would be wise to reach out to your veterinarian for further guidance.
Since your cat has already been treated with antibiotics and pain relief, maintaining cleanliness and monitoring her condition should aid in her recovery. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
