Others

She just got spayed 4 days ago. Yesterday she got sick and I was worried she got her injection would infected. I took her back in and they have her meds for nausea and dehydration. She's drooling a lot and won't eat. I got her to eat a little bit tonight by finger feeding her. She's still drinking water and going to the bathroom

It's completely understandable to be concerned about your kitten, especially after surgery. Drooling and a lack of appetite can sometimes occur following anesthesia and surgery, but it's reassuring that she's still drinking water and using the bathroom.

First, it's important to monitor her hydration. Since she's drinking water, continue to encourage her to stay hydrated. You might also consider offering her some diluted chicken broth, ensuring it doesn't contain onions or garlic, to help maintain her fluid intake.

Next, try to encourage her to eat. If finger feeding is working, continue with that approach. You can also offer her some soft, palatable foods like canned kitten food or plain, boiled chicken. Sometimes, warming the food slightly can make it more appealing to her.

Follow the vet's instructions for any medications they provided. If she seems to be in pain or discomfort, make sure to administer the prescribed pain relief as directed.

Keep an eye on her drooling and appetite. If she continues to drool excessively or refuses to eat for more than a day, it might indicate a more serious issue.

Since she was just seen by the vet and given medication, it's good to give it a bit of time to see if she improves. However, if her condition worsens, if you notice any signs of infection at the surgical site such as redness, swelling, or discharge, or if she becomes lethargic, it would be best to contact your vet again.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
