She broke a nail. And it hurts her. She keeps licking it. And it is pussing a little bit. Not bleeding. I dont know if she needs to go to vet or groomer or how I can handle it at home. I have never cut an animal's nails.

A broken nail can indeed be quite uncomfortable for your dog, especially if she's licking it and there's pus present, which suggests a possible infection. To help her at home, you can start by gently cleaning the affected nail with warm water and mild soap to remove any dirt or debris, being careful not to cause her any pain.
Next, apply an antiseptic solution, such as diluted betadine or chlorhexidine, to the area. This can help prevent or treat any infection. If possible, wrap her paw with a clean bandage to protect it from further injury and to prevent her from licking it, ensuring the bandage isn't too tight.
It's important to monitor the nail for any signs of increased redness, swelling, or pus, as these could indicate a worsening infection. If she continues to lick the area, you might consider using an Elizabethan collar, or cone, to prevent her from reaching it.
Should the nail not improve within a couple of days, or if the infection seems to be worsening, it would be wise to consult a veterinarian. They can provide more specific treatments, such as antibiotics, if necessary. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you.
