It sounds like Sandy is dealing with some respiratory and ear issues, which can certainly be uncomfortable for her. The symptoms you've mentioned, such as sneezing, wheezing, and nasal discharge, might be related to allergies, as your vet suggested. However, they could also indicate an upper respiratory infection, which is quite common in cats.

Since you've already started transitioning her food and have given her a small dose of Zyrtec, it's important to keep an eye on how she responds to these changes. Zyrtec can be helpful for allergy symptoms, but it's essential to ensure the dosage is suitable for her weight and condition. Always consult with your vet before giving any medication.

In the meantime, there are a few steps you can take at home to help Sandy:

First, try to keep her environment free from potential allergens, such as dust, pollen, or strong scents from cleaning products or air fresheners. Using a humidifier can also be beneficial, especially if the air in your home is dry, as it can help ease her breathing.

Additionally, gently wiping her nose with a damp cloth can help remove any dried discharge, making it easier for her to breathe. Keep an eye on her eating and drinking habits as well; a decrease in appetite or water intake can be a sign of discomfort or illness.

Lastly, continue to monitor her symptoms. If they persist or worsen, or if you notice signs of lethargy, loss of appetite, or difficulty breathing, it would be wise to consult your vet again.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for taking such good care of Sandy.
